Keyboard Pioneers: Introduction to AWS
On October 18, 2025, I had the opportunity to host and organize my first-ever webinar titled “Introduction to AWS”, featuring Mr. Moshe Dimawala Adormeo as the guest speaker. I was introduced to him through my mother, who mentioned that he could be a potential capstone adviser. After learning about his background and expertise, I reached out to invite him, and he kindly accepted. He decided to share his knowledge about Amazon Web Services (AWS), focusing on how cloud computing works and how developers can build and secure small applications using AWS tools and services.
The webinar began with an opening prayer, and although there were minor sound and echo issues at the start, the rest of the event went smoothly. Mr. Adormeo presented his talk titled “AWS 101: Build, Secure, and Clean Up a Tiny App”, which covered an overview of AWS, its global infrastructure, pricing models, and essential security practices such as Identity and Access Management (IAM). Toward the end, he demonstrated how to deploy a simple web application using Amazon S3 and how AWS Lambda functions operate in real time. Seeing the live demo made the technical concepts much easier to understand for everyone.
Reflections and Learnings
Hosting this webinar helped me gain a deeper understanding of AWS and cloud computing. I learned about the shared responsibility model, where both AWS and users play important roles in maintaining security. AWS manages the infrastructure, while users are responsible for securing their own data and configurations. This concept really stood out to me because it emphasizes accountability when working with cloud environments.
Another valuable takeaway was learning how AWS handles its services and costs. Mr. Adormeo explained the pay-as-you-go model and Free Tier, which are great for students and beginners who want to explore AWS without spending too much. I also learned about AWS services like EC2, Lambda, and Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs). The live demo showing a small web app deployment was one of my favorite parts, as it proved how fast and efficient cloud-based applications can be. It made me realize how AWS can empower students and developers to build scalable and secure projects.
Practical Applications
After attending this webinar, I became more motivated to explore AWS personally. I plan to use the AWS Free Tier to practice deploying simple applications and to gain hands-on experience in managing cloud resources. I also want to study more about cloud security, particularly how to manage IAM roles and permissions effectively.
The discussion about the 3-2-1 Backup Rule and cost optimization gave me practical ideas on how professionals handle data safely and efficiently. It also made me more aware of how I store and manage files online. Whether for school or personal projects, I now understand the importance of backups and access control. This event encouraged me to keep learning about cloud computing and to apply what I’ve learned in future IT work.
Positive Feedback
Overall, the Introduction to AWS webinar was a meaningful and successful experience. Mr. Adormeo was an engaging and approachable speaker who explained even complex topics in a simple and clear way. The live demonstration made the session interactive and helped participants better understand how cloud applications are deployed and managed.
As the host, I was glad to see the participants actively engaging during the discussion. Despite some minor technical difficulties early on, the webinar ran smoothly and received positive feedback. It was fulfilling to see how the event came together successfully and how it encouraged others to learn more about AWS.
Suggestions for Improvement
While the event went well, there are a few areas I would like to improve next time. I plan to check all audio and presentation tools beforehand to avoid echo or microphone issues. I also want to manage the schedule better to allow more time for Q&A sessions and audience interaction.
Other than that, everything went as planned—from the coordination to the distribution of certificates after the event. Overall, it was a successful and rewarding experience that motivated me to keep improving and to organize even better events in the future.
