Skydev Solutions Inc. Masterclass at the Hack, Play, & Learn Summit 2025

 I. Details of the Event

        On October 21, 2025, I attended the Skydev Solutions Inc. Masterclass during the Hack, Play, & Learn Summit 2025. The event gathered both students and professionals who were interested in different areas of technology, development, and innovation. The program started at around 10:30 a.m. with the National Anthem, opening remarks from Mr. Segara, and acknowledgments of the event sponsors.

        The first session was led by Mr. Marlon Tayag, titled “Free Isn’t Free: The Real Cost of Passwords, Posts, and Sketchy Freebies.” His talk focused on online privacy, the dangers of oversharing on social media, and the hidden risks behind free online services. This session highlighted how convenience often comes with security trade-offs.

        The next talk was delivered by a representative from Converge SME Solutions, who discussed “Cyber Defense for Business.” This session focused on data protection, cybersecurity threats, and the importance of maintaining business continuity. After lunch, Sir Arvin Bordios conducted an engaging live demonstration on Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) using GitHub Actions, showing how automation can improve development workflows.

        The afternoon sessions covered a wide range of topics, including Game Development by Mark Manuel, Game Feel and Juice by Romeo John Perez, and UI and UX Principles by Fatrizha Alejah Boongaling. Other speakers such as Sir Phee-Jae Aeydrian Salas introduced VIM, while Sir James Calma and Ian Gaylon discussed Encryption and Hashing. Additional technical sessions included API Endpoint Security, Code Documentation and Technical Debt, Automation using Playwright, and Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates, which were given in either printed or electronic form.

II. Reflection on the Webinar or Activity (Learnings Gained)

        The masterclass was a very informative experience that helped me better understand both technical and security-related aspects of technology. One of the key lessons I learned was that cybersecurity is not only about tools and software but also about human behavior. The discussion on oversharing and weak password practices made me realize how easily personal data can be exposed due to careless online habits.

        The session on CI/CD helped me understand how automation can improve development workflows by reducing errors and speeding up deployment processes. Meanwhile, the discussions on UI and UX design and game development showed how creativity and technical logic work together to create engaging digital experiences. These sessions made it clear that good design is just as important as good code.

        I also learned the importance of API security and proper code documentation, which are often overlooked but play a major role in long-term system maintenance and data protection. The talk on Machine Learning and NLP caught my interest as well, since it showed how AI can be used to enhance user experiences and automate repetitive tasks. Overall, the event gave me a clearer picture of how different areas of technology are interconnected, from secure coding to creative and user-focused design.

III. Reflections on Possibilities of Implementing Some of the Seminar Input on a Practical Level (Practical Application of Learnings)

        The lessons from this masterclass can be applied both personally and academically. I plan to be more mindful of my online presence by using stronger passwords, avoiding oversharing, and being cautious when dealing with suspicious links or messages. These small habits can greatly improve personal digital security.

        For future projects, I want to start implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to make development more efficient and organized. The session on UI and UX also encouraged me to pay more attention to how users interact with systems I build, focusing on usability, accessibility, and overall design balance.

        I also plan to apply what I learned about API security by using proper authentication methods, token validation, and data encryption. Learning about automation and machine learning made me more curious to explore tools like Playwright and basic AI frameworks, which can help improve testing processes and project innovation.

IV. Positive Feedback on the Event or Organization

        The Skydev Solutions Inc. Masterclass was well-organized and packed with valuable discussions. Each speaker shared insights based on real-world experience, which made the sessions easy to understand and relatable. The live demonstrations were especially helpful because they showed how the concepts work in actual scenarios.

        The icebreaker activity added a fun break between sessions and helped lighten the atmosphere after long technical discussions. Overall, the event ran smoothly and provided a meaningful learning experience that balanced technical depth with creativity and engagement.

V. Suggestions for Improvements to be Made or Considered for Future Activities

        Although the event was successful, there are a few areas that could be improved in the future. Adding a short question-and-answer portion after each talk would allow participants to engage more with the speakers and clarify topics immediately. Providing a printed or digital program would also help attendees keep track of the schedule more easily.

        Ensuring that all participants, including walk-ins, receive their certificates on time would improve the overall experience. It would also be helpful if presentation slides or recorded sessions were shared afterward so attendees could review the lessons at their own pace. Despite these minor suggestions, the masterclass was an enriching and well-executed event that combined technical learning with creativity and innovation.
